In my room I’ve been going for the “flea market” look which is mainly about taking old things and giving them new life. My inspiration for this look came from a book my grandma picked up for me at Anthropologie titled The Flea Market.
My boyfriend went to Panikin, my favorite bakery/coffee house, and bought coffee bean bags [seen on the hampers]. They are only $1.00 a bag which is definetly a steal! You must ask for them though because they do not advertise that they are for sale.
Yesterday I went to Amvets, our local thrift store, and found these two night stands that painted in a seafoam green color. The paint was beginning to chip giving it that antique look. I fell in love. Though they were too short to use as night tables, Blaine and I found by stacking the two there would be use for them! And they were only $29.50 for the both of them!
I cut a coffee bag to display under the glass of the night table. The cute turtle piggy bank…is that and oxymoron? and the frame i also got at Amvets. I used a piece of chain i had to anchor the earring holder.
I got this idea from Urban Outfitters, it is an earring holder made from a frame i got from Amvets and lace. Though a staple gun would have been the most effective I only had a stapler. It work but may need some reinforcements later.
Again, on my Amvets trip I found these adorable chunky sandals that look brand new! Only $4.95 and totally matched the outfit I was wearing yesterday, cut-off jeans shorts, a purple tank from American Apparel and a wooden pendant hanging from a leather necklace, needless to say i put them on as soon as I got home!
We also snagged this cat toy which they seem to really enjoy! I’m trying to get them to stop ruining everything by their scratching which is how the coffee bag hamper idea came into light. Very durable.
